 You start the year with grand visions of everything you will do and how amazing it will be.You'll do great work,be a good person and you know,generally rock everything.Your spirit will thrive,and you'll become the most successful and most interesting person.And then the picture starts to fade away.It fades a little,becomes dusty around the edges and instead of sharp vivid colour,it turns into the dreadful nightmare.

Thinking about what might not have been can be tremendously powerful if used in the right way.Counter-factual thinking can create meaning in life and,can increase satisfaction with what you have.So,mentally subtract something good from your life to  really appreciate it.

Send a thankful message:Gratitude is a powerful emotion that helps us enjoy what we have.Evoke it right now by sending an email.Thank them for what they have done for you,however small.It's easy and quick and one study has found that practising gratitude can increase happiness by 25%.

     The thing with our thoughts is that they become words and then actions,so it's important we observe them and choose them wisely.Our thoughts are like flower seeds.They can either spread happiness or sadness.So,its your choice.

Listen with all your attention:It sounds so easy,yet really few master it.Give your full attention to the person you're talking with.It can change your whole view of the person and vice versa.That makes two happy people.
